Photographs
Q: How good do the photographs need to be?
A: The doll can only be as good a likeness of the person as the photograph(s) we are sent – it’s all we have to work from! Our best case scenario is to have a portrait shot of the person (a close up of their face taken from straight on), and a sideview photo, which will help our sculptors capture the person’s profile. If you do not have posed photographs available (the bobblehead is being given as a surprise), please send the best available front view photo you have, even if it includes other people besides the bobblehead giftee. You should indicate in the special instructions box in step 2 of the order form which person in the photo(s) is the subject for the bobblehead. Please try to send us photographs that are a good likeness of the person you want sculpted into a bobblehead, preferably with similar hair, facial hair, and facial expressions to what you want on the doll.
Q: Do I need a side view or profile photo?
A: Side view and profile photos help us to capture the profile characteristics of the person, such as nose length and angle, forehead depth, and chin angle. It is not required, merely recommended, and if you do not provide a side view we can still do a great job. However, if you do have a profile you should include it with the order.
Q: What type of digital photos should I upload?
A: Our website and database are compatible with tiff, bmp, and jpeg file types. We can accept any files under 2MB in size, and you have the option of uploading up to five photos. If you do not know how to upload photos there is a detailed explanation on our How to Order page.
Q: Can I mail in my photographs if I do not have a digital copy?
A: Yes, you have the option of mailing the photos in to us for a charge of $10. You must first place the order using our online order form, selecting the check off box to mail in the photos in step two of the order form, and the address will be given at the end of the order, after the last step where your payment is processed. We do not take orders by mail, only the photos for the order. As an alternative to mailing in the photos, you can have them scanned for you onto a CD at locations such as Kinko's or Walgreens. You may then go to our website and upload them into step two of the online order form.
